The lookout from burbank

Check out this new mellow 80-seat bar and lounge from the Castaway team up in Burbank. It’s called the Green Room, and it may well have the best new drinking and dining views anywhere in the area. Expect a heavy focus on classic craft cocktails, plus reinvented bar food that winds from caviar to lobster corndogs, with a dry-aged ribeye steak thrown in for good measure. Expect an opening for The Green Room (1250 E. Harvard Road) on Friday.

Snack away

There’s a cool new takeaway food and drink shop called Sip/Snack coming to York Boulevard in Highland Park soon. The project lands at 5003 York and will operate from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, doing everything from grab-and-go meals to candy and snacks, takeaway beer and wine, and everyday pantry staples. Expect an opening sometime early next year.

Prime value

Like many other places around town today, Prime Pizza is doing a deal for those who can show their “I voted” sticker. Just show up to either Prime location in Little Tokyo or on Fairfax for a free cheese slice.

Crossovers

Chef Chris Oh is working with Dog Haus on a limited-time so-called KPOP burger for their many locations. The menu item consists of two smashed wagyu beef patties with kalbi glaze, and will be available across the country from now until the end of December. Better still: $1 from the sale of each goes towards the charity No Kids Hungry.

Trap team

The folks from Trap Kitchen have partnered with Everytable to create their own unique bowl, complete with Jamaican-style curry chicken.

March x chefs

The March of Dimes is doing a big, chef-heavy dinner out in Chino Hills on Wednesday night. The spendy $350 night goes down at a country club, and includes culinary names like Bruno Serato from Anaheim White House.

Don’t cook

Don’t feel like stuffing the bird and making all the sides for Thanksgiving this year? Freedman’s in Silver Lake/Echo Park is doing a day-of takeaway menu for those who just can’t make the commitment, complete with brisket, bagel towers, and guava cheesecakes. Call ahead to pre-order from the menu below.
