Cha Cha Matcha is making its West Coast debut today in West Hollywood. A second LA outlet is slated to open early next year on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice. The chainlet currently has three Manhattan locations. Founders Conrad Sandelman and Matthew Morton are hoping their Instagram-ready space (think: neon-lit puns, palm trees, and pop art) and on-trend drinks will connect with Angelenos in a big way.
“I grew up about 10 minutes away from where we’re opening, and it’s always been my dream to open up a spot in LA,” says Morton. The shop’s menu, which is centered around Japanese-sourced matcha green tea, includes special blends like the Lavender CBD Matcha, the Collagen Blue Algae Latte, and the Beautiful Latte with collagen, ashwagandha, honey, bee pollen, and vanilla. Also on the menu are small bites like avocado toast, vegan waffles, and soft-serve ice cream.
To celebrate the new store, Cha Cha Matcha is releasing a collaboration with renowned designer Virgil Abloh that includes California-inspired apparel, as well as compostable packaging, cups, sleeves, and napkins. The store’s first 100 customers today receive a complimentary limited-edition sweatshirt designed by Abloh.
Hours are from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
