A loss at Barney’s Beanery

It’s a tough day for fans of West Hollywood bar anchor Barney’s Beanery, as longtime serving manager Dominique Kadison has died suddenly. Spanning a career of nearly 30 years at the landmark restaurant and bar, Kadison worked to become a local favorite among fans of the iconic place, tourists visiting from out of town, locals, and everyone on staff — and even met her husband there, when he was a regular.

Barney’s Beanery co-owner Sheri Hellard tells Eater: “She was truly like a mother to all of the servers and bartenders at Barney’s. She always remembered the details of what everyone was up to and offered encouragement and support. She was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all.”

A festival of Chinese food in Downtown(ish)

The upcoming Taste of China event is happening in a week. The large festival goes down at the Magic Box at The Reef, just south of Downtown, and features everyone from Jonathan Gold to the founder of Meizhou Dongpo — and lots of restaurant vendors, of course.
