Big Southern breakfast fans have had February 5 circled in their calendar for a while now, as today is the day that Cracker Barrel officially jumps state lines to land their first California location out in Victorville. Lines are reportedly already long, and the grits are hitting tables just as fast as they can.
The arrival of Cracker Barrel has been one of the more anticipated chain restaurant stories of the past year. The company has legions of fans across the nation, but doesn’t service every corner of America — or even every state — just yet, making the arrival in California a big deal for transplants missing a taste of home, or anyone making the drive between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Much like Waffle House, Cracker Barrel is known for its Southern hospitality and menu, complete with grits, biscuits, and big slabs of bacon for any table that asks. There’s also an attached Country Store for picking up everything from trinkets to rocking chairs, and the walls inside the restaurant are lined with actual vintage accoutrements, including farm signs, old newspaper ads, and more.

Cracker Barrel Victorville officially opens today, keeping daily hours from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. (11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night). Can’t make it out any time soon? That’s okay, the company is reportedly looking into other locations across the state, including the Central Valley.
