Garden Grove’s pending SteelCraft shipping container project is chugging along, with Mayor Steven Jones announcing a slew of new tenants for the property. All told, the shipping container park will contain eight new restaurant iterations, from pizza to beer to ice cream.
Biggest among the new names is Beachwood Brewing, the nationally-known, award-winning beermakers from Long Beach. They’ll be anchoring the craft beer side of things — much like Smog City has done with the original SteelCraft in Long Beach. Next up is Dark Horse Coffee, a San Diego outfit with multiple locations already.
Other options include The Nest, a breakfast specialist out of Bellflower, Urban Pie’s pizzas, and Cauldron Ice Cream from Orange County. Honey & Butter will handle macarons, Renegade Taco will cook Mexican fusion fare, and The Chick ‘n’ Shack will prepare Hainan chicken.
As to a timeline for the opening of SteelCraft Garden Grove, look for something in late 2018. Meanwhile, the SteelCraft team is hard at work with a third location already, to land as a two-story build in the city of Bellflower sometime late this year or early next.
