Bourbon rolls to Orange County

Upscale Glendale meat parlor Bourbon Steak has expanded to Orange County, taking over at the Monarch Beach Resort. Don’t expect anything drastically different than the LA location, just butter-poached lobster and steak and whiskey. As for timing, the official opening date is today, and the restaurant will keep evening-only hours to start, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

The Ruth effect

Ruth Reichl steps into Rioja thanks to the new menu at Beverly Hills hit Maude. The reformatted restaurant is no longer plugging in one ingredient per dish per month, instead opting for a wandering journey through regions of the world.

Pizzana with purpose

Brentwood star Pizzana is now expanding its offerings, adding takeout and delivery to its repertoire. Just make sure to follow the guidelines for best results.

A Southern California classic

Burgers and doughnuts might seem to make for strange bedfellows, but according to the LA Times they’re a common side-by-side pairing at low key spots across Orange County. Apparently, it’s a thing.

Tartine takes time

New blog DTLAer is on the case of Tartine, which appears to still be quite a ways away at the ROW project. There is no projected opening date just yet, but images show a lot of construction happening still.

Vegan and loving it

LA Taco tells the tale of Southern Girl Desserts in Baldwin Hills. The place has been a stalwart in the community for ten years, offering homespun classics that just happen to be completely vegan.

Homestate gets close

Things have been pushed slightly at Homestate in Highland Park. The restaurant with the big patio and breakfast taco menu is now slated to land on March 12, just in time for warmer weather.
