Award-winning New York City restaurant Cosme is still in the works to land in Los Angeles sometime late this year or early next, and now Eater has exclusively learned the location of the drop. Chef Enrique Olvera’s impressive modern Mexican specialty will take over a space on the hottest half-block in all of Los Angeles, right across the alley from Bestia in the Arts District.
Olvera and chef de cuisine Daniela Soto-Innes have been coming in and out of Los Angeles for years, doing food festivals, trying new places, and scouting for locations. Now they’ve found their perfect space, and can get to work on building it out. Reps for Olvera confirmed the location, but don’t currently have a timeline for opening.
For those unfamiliar, Cosme is a genre-defining Mexican restaurant based in New York City, though Olvera has his roots in Mexico City at his other seminal restaurant Pujol. Both often land high on the annual list of World’s 50 Best restaurants, and Eater’s own roving critic Bill Addison calls Cosme one of the best restaurants in America. Soto-Innes is herself a James Beard-winning Rising Star Chef, and together the duo hope to continue to home in on the heart of the current Alta California and Modern Mexican movement happening locally. More on this as it comes.
