The Alice In Wonderland-themed electronic dance music festival Beyond Wonderland starts up this weekend. Operating since 2015, 70,000 people descend upon six very loud stages at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino. Beyond Wonderland is produced by Insomniac, the group responsible for energetic affairs such as Electric Daisy Carnival, and Hard Summer.
Any strict lineup of dance music acts requires sustenance, and Insomniac brought in LA-based restaurants and food trucks to assist. For a few additional dollars, the organizers created a Mad Hatter Tea Party with crumpets, decorated elevated tables, and private table service.
The first act starts at 5 p.m. tomorrow, and goes until 2 a.m. each day, with über-DJ Tiësto as headliner. Here is a sampling of the food lineup:
By the end of the weekend, Instagram feeds will be full of food photos from Happy Toast, whose menu includes a rainbow grilled cheese sandwich, and something called glitter tots: tater tots tossed with purple glitter, and a side of pink aioli.
Roy Choi’s Kogi Korean BBQ Truck will be in full force, along with Korean food truck Rice Balls of Fire, and the Artesia-based Belly Bombz restaurant with Korean-inspired wings and sliders.
The LA-based VCHOS Truck will be grilling pupusas, tacos, and sliders, but there are healthier option with bowls from Palikao.
The weather will barely hit 60 degrees in San Bernardino, so Shake Ramen will be busy, as will other comfort food options like the Philladelphia-inspired cheesesteaks from Phillyfornia, or the make-your-own grilled cheese at the California Grill Truck.
Tickets are still available, with two-day general admission tickets priced at $179, while single day tickets run $125.
