Clothes and cafe vibes
Upscale bag and clothing retailer Mansur Gavriel has expanded into the food and drink game, opening up a colorful shop right on Melrose Place. Despite the competition from nearby names like Alfred, the expanded upscale clothing boutique is confident in its offerings, serving everything from AM oatmeal to avocado toast to salads and dessert like polenta cake. It helps that the shop has one adorable hidden patio, as well. 8475 Melrose Place, West Hollywood.
Checking in on Downtown
Sixth + Mill is coming up quick in the Arts District, with Food & Wine reporting some juicy updates on Angelo Auriana and Matteo Ferdinandi’s casual new pizza and takeaway Italian spot attached to Officine Brera.
Classics keep it real
Tasting Table tells the tale of some of LA’s most iconic classic restaurant spaces, from Lawry’s to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. There are big new names doing fantastic things, of course, but sometimes keeping it old school just feels right.
Lola’s to know
The Long Beach Press-Telegram seems to love Lola’s Mexican Cuisine on Retro Row. The popular spot does many things well, chief among them a mole burrito with lots of grilled cheese inside.
Look at The Wolves
Check out all the stained glass that is going into Downtown bar The Wolves. The place is almost ready to go, though an official opening date has not been set yet.
La Copine love
Vogue goes all in on Claire Wadsworth and Nikki Hill, the dynamic duo behind high desert favorite La Copine. Love and cooking brought them together, and the close-knit community has made them stay.
Triniti does coffee, too
It’s not all just overhead shots of soft-boiled eggs and bursting greens at Triniti, the hip new cafe-plus in Echo Park. As coffee lovers Sprudge can attest, the place also happens to whip up a great espresso drink using Coffee Manufactory beans.
Pop-ups abound
There’s another pop-up happening at We Have Noodles in Silver Lake soon, and it’s being run by familiar names Banh Oui. Look for them Sundays in March.
