The owners of FIN in Culver City just opened a second location in the former Larchmont space. The renovated bungalow has only been open for a few days, and nearly took 30 days to rework a space that was more suitable for weddings into a darker, 1920s-like setting for locals to score Asian tapas.

Longtime friends and business partners Michael Flanagan and Gerardo Reyes opened the Culver City FIN in 2014, along with a secret entrance speakeasy in the rear of the building called the Alley Lounge. Flanagan comes from Ireland and Reyes hails from Mexico. They became friends in 2003 while waiting tables in Los Angeles restaurants decided to open a real estate company together called LA Group Realty. They then returned to restaurants because they missed the fast pace of the hospitality business.

FIN’s Asian tapas vary between sashimi, sushi, and small plates like gyoza and tacos, but also offers large plates like lamb chops and sides like truffle mashed potatoes. As FIN focuses on cold and hot plates, they have two kitchen managers at the helm. So they brought in Miguel Oliver, a seasoned chef from Angelini and Morton’s, along with another chef that simply goes by Mario G. Gerardo Reyes also had a hand in developing the menu. Hours are Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays until 11 p.m.
