A new healthy restaurant is coming to Hermosa Beach this May called Serve on 2nd. The forthcoming all-day eatery took over Tammie’s Corner House Cafe a year ago, and plans to serve a healthy menu geared towards active beach crowds.

Also owner of Rock and Brews, Jon Mesko wanted to bring in something he believes is missing in Hermosa. Says Mesko, “Serve on 2nd will be a neighborhood restaurant for the community, and the menu is healthy comfort food.”

Geoff Perea will man the stoves at Serve on 2nd, and he was previously worked at Lazy Dog, various Marriott and Ayres hotels, and also Pasadena’s Valley Hunt Club. Perea will pay homage to the previous tenant and include oversized muffins, and create breakfast dishes with eggs from a local farmer. Later in the day, Serve’s menu will include salmon wraps, salads, rice bowls, marinated steaks, and pot roast. They’ll also serve craft beer, wine, and soju cocktails.

Mesko took a year to complete the redesign, and reworked the divey Tammie’s with swings at the bar, and patio seating. Mesko has played beach volleyball professionally for 13 years, but don’t expect to see volleyball paraphernalia on the walls. Serve on 2nd is one half block away from the famous beach volleyball courts on Hermosa Beach.

When it opens in May, Serve on 2nd will serve from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. daily.
