West Hollywood’s throwback aviation-themed bar Now Boarding went down for a rough landing last month, but words is there’s a new project already in the works for the space. The updated bar will be called No More Heroes, and should be ready to go by the end of April.
This latest turn will see the Santa Monica Boulevard space become an homage of sorts to classic musicians throughout the last century, with artwork by G.B. Aurbach on the walls. There will be live music as well as all-vinyl DJ sets many nights a month, crossing genres including hip hop, indie, soul, rock, and beyond. The name of the bar itself comes from a song by the British band The Stranglers.
On the food and drink side, Todd Walker and partner Cole Apodaca (former beverage director from Ysabel and Laurel Hardware) are working on a menu that includes classic cocktails and some frozen drinks with a lineup of nostalgic “hero” sub sandwiches. There will be a weekday happy hour, at least a few TVs, and room to hang out with a date.
No More Heroes is currently in build phase and looks to open by the end of the month, keeping evening to late night hours daily.
