More Vegas on the mind
Los Angeles seafood favorite Water Grill is expanding yet again, this time out to Las Vegas. The company has secured a very particular space inside The Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace, taking over for the former Wolfgang Puck restaurant Spago. There is a planned opening slated for the first quarter of next year.
The opening of this latest location will mark the company’s sixth overall, with outlets in Downtown, Santa Monica, Orange County, San Diego, and Dallas, Texas. The move to the desert also follows a number of big names that have recently made Las Vegas their home, from Ricardo Zarate with Once to Roy Choi.
LA’s great chefs
LA Magazine has put out a well-rounded list of great local chef names to watch today and in the years to come. It’s a who’s-who of existing talent from Nyesha Arrington to Kris Yenbamroong, but the whole piece serves as yet another great reminder of just how special the dining scene here is right now.
Breakfast on lock
Check out this simple pop-up that roving chef Royce Burke is putting together tomorrow on Fairfax. It’s going down at Hyperslow at 487 S. Fairfax.
Late night at Cole’s
Downtown star Cole’s has expanded its Thursday through Sunday late night offerings, now doing things like sweet potato fries and pastrami dips from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
A new chef on the coast
Longtime Las Vegas chef Jeffery Walter is in at the Montage Laguna Beach. Walter spent years in the desert opening up hotel properties like The Cosmopolitan and, more recently, overseeing the entire F&B program for the Bellagio.
Hummus among us
There’s even more hummus coming to Los Angeles soon, thanks to East Coast hit The Hummus & Pita Co. The upstart company just announced a big new franchise deal that will bring multiple Southern California locations to life by next year.
Coffee and more
There’s a big new casual coffee and lunch spot now open out in Boyle Heights these days, called Asher Caffe. The 5,000 square foot property lands at 945 S. Boyle Ave., keeping daily hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oh, and the restaurant is apparently Kosher certified.
