A fast-casual restaurant named Panasia Sweet and Savory opened in Alhambra opened this week. With a moniker like that, the food is likely a variety of Asian dishes. And it is. The menu spans countries like Thailand, India, Malaysia, Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and China. Longtime LA restaurant and dessert fixture Phoenix Restaurant, Food Boutique & Dessert Group is behind the venture.

Panasia’s space comes out to 4,500 square feet with a pet-friendly patio. Customers can grab their food and eat at a communal table or grab prepackaged items if in a hurry. Panasia’s location is within a walkable area, situated in Downtown Alhambra next to the Edwards Alhambra Renaissance movie theater.

As for the food, the owners emphasized quality ingredients. Panasia has a nod to Asian street food, including samosas and barbecue pork rolls. There is entire section of congee, noodle soups, a number of Indonesian plates, salads, and of course Phoenix desserts. Most dishes cost $10 dollars or less. Beer and wine licenses are pending and anyone dining here can park for four hours in the lot behind the restaurant.

The family behind Phoenix Inn Chinese Cuisine opened the first location in Chinatown in 1965. It’s still owned and operated by the same family. Hours run daily from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.
