Silver Lake’s sports bar scene gets a boost this week with the official arrival of Trophy Wife to Hyperion Avenue. Expect whiskey, lots of TVs, and a photo booth for all to enjoy.
Owner Anat Escher has long been known for developing casual bar spaces across the city, from the Bandito’s down near USC to the shuttered Sandbox Eat-Drink-Play on Melrose (soon to become NYC’s Bathtub Gin speakeasy). She’s also the owner of the building where Trophy Wife sits, having put Barbarella together there years ago in what is now dual businesses The Friend bar and big plate Mexican restaurant Mi Corazon.
Trophy Wife sits above it all on the second floor, overlooking Hyperion and local sports bar competition Hyperion Public. As UrbanDaddy first reported, the finished restaurant carries a group-friendly vibe with stools, communal tables, lots of left-behind trophies (of course), and televisions hanging everywhere. There’s also a small outdoor patio, and a menu of cocktails as well as craft beer and wine.
Trophy Wife officially opened for business over the weekend, keeping evening hours only. Expect a Tuesday through Sunday happy hour from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. initially, with two-for-one drinks available.
