A new French restaurant named Nicolas Eatery will open in Malibu at the newly renovated shopping center in the former Thai Dishes space. Restaurant owner Nicolas Fanucci previously served as general manager at Thomas Keller’s now-shuttered Bouchon in Beverly Hills, as well as iconic The French Laundry in Napa Valley. Nicolas Eatery anticipates opening in August with breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.
The restaurant’s menu embraces simple, fresh, and local ingredients with French cooking techniques. Think classic breakfast dishes like eggs, pancakes, French toast, and pastry baskets with jam. They’ll also lean on house specialties like braised beef in a red wine sauce or saffron seafood stew. Everything should pair nicely with a glass of French wine or local California craft beer.
In addition, Nicolas Eatery hopes to install a rooftop bar with high-top seating and a fireplace, offering a rather lovely place to have a drink and watch the sun set over the Pacific. Once it opens, Nicolas Eatery will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with eventual breakfast hours after a few months.
