Throw Back to the 90s at This Retro Silver Lake Ice Cream Shop

Butter’s puts some retro love in each scoop

There’s a colorful new ice cream name in town as of tomorrow: Butter’s Ice Cream. The small corner shop takes up some strip mall square footage right next to Silver Lake Ramen off Sunset Boulevard, and will get to scooping just in time for the long Memorial Day weekend.

Butter’s comes with a decidedly neon vibe, from its bright pink tile to the light-up signs around the space. They’ve spread out some Instagram-friendly ‘90s-era wallpaper, plus stool seats and open bench seating along one wall. The scoop shop comes from Garen and Kristofer Nalbandian, two first-time restaurateurs.

On the flavor front, expect options like “banana graham”, a vegan chocolate cookies and cream, Thai tea, and “Bambam-Baklava,” flavored with real baklava. Ice cream comes in handmade cones, cups, sundaes, floats, or as an ice cream sandwich, with a variety of toppings as well.

Butter’s starts the opening process tomorrow, keeping limited hours beginning at 1 p.m. Next week, expect hours from noon until late daily.
