Massively popular Portland coffee brand Stumptown is on the move, adding a second local location in the heart of Downtown LA later this year. The new shop will set up along Los Angeles Street, between 8th and 9th.

This new Downtown Stumptown will mark just the second Los Angeles outlet for the company, which has locations across the country in cities like Seattle, New Orleans, New York, and Chicago. Stumptown has long been associated with the rise of so-called third wave coffee, alongside names like Intelligentsia and Blue Bottle. But while the latter two have made moves to greatly expand across Los Angeles, Stumptown has maintained only its original LA roasting facility and standalone shop in the Arts District, around the corner from Bestia.

This new address comes with a fair bit more foot traffic and visibility than the first, thanks in part to large floor-to-ceiling windows and a prime location at the edge of the Historic Core, South Park, and the Fashion District. As for design, expect an airy 1,500 square foot space filled with light and built-in banquette seating. Reps for Stumptown say that they’ll also be partnering with a locally-focused Downtown non-profit, given the proximity to Skid Row, though they haven’t confirmed anything yet.

In terms of timing, expect this new Stumptown to arrive sometime later this year, likely in November. There are also loose plans to bring even more Stumptowns to the city in the future, but those are still in the works.
