Good news for Hollywood workaday types, as there’s a new dining addition coming to the Cahuenga corridor soon. It’s called Kebbros, and as the name implies local diners should expect a lot of kebabs.
Like some other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean spots around town, Kebbros will focus on the European-style doner kebab. That means a variety of shawarma-style meats available as sandwiches, wraps, or salads, each customizable in their own way. The fast casual model will follow in similar footsteps to other local LA names like Spireworks, Spitz, and Prime Cutts — to say nothing of Berlins, the Turkish-German hybrid restaurant that specializes in one of Europe’s most popular street foods.
Kebbros will take up residence inside the former short-lived Demitasse space, just down from Stout and Trejo’s Cantina. The appealing space was fully built out as an all-day restaurant back in 2016, but has been sitting largely empty since early 2017 when Demitasse pulled up stakes and moved on. Now Kebbros will give the property a new chance.
For a time, it seems doner kebabs would be the next answer to fast casual grain bowls and salad chains like Sweetgreen, but the larger market for doners hasn’t quite caught on. As for Kebbros, expect them to appeal — in price point, menu, and service style — to the quick-eating crowds in that stretch of Hollywood, near various office buildings, at least two WeWork locations, and nearby production facilities. Expect an opening sometime later this year.
