Fans of old school Italian white tablecloth spot Madeo — yes, that includes Drake — can rejoice, as the restaurant is set to resurface next week in a new location in Beverly Hills.
Madeo has long been a hit with the well-heeled set in and around West Hollywood. The place played for decades to a mostly packed house every night, with paparazzi waiting outside to snap pics of celebrities and hangers-on. Then back in March word trickled out that the restaurant would be closing, and for a time it was unclear just what that meant.
Well as it turns out, Madeo’s longstanding home on Beverly Boulevard is simply undergoing a big renovation. That process is slated to take more than a year, so in the meantime Madeo owner Gianni Vietina decided to move the whole operation — furniture and all — west to Beverly Hills. He’s taken over the Doma space (formerly Prego) on Camden Drive, and plans to carry much the same menu as before.
In terms of timing, reps for Madeo say an opening on Tuesday, June 26 is most likely, though with finishing details still to come it could be a race to the finish line. Regardless expect a reveal sometime next week, with lots of celebrities sure to be in tow. Meanwhile the original location is on target to reopen sometime late next year.
Madeo Beverly Hills. 362 N. Camden Drive., Beverly Hills.
