Belcampo’s switcheroo

Santa Monica restaurant and butcher shop Belcampo is closing for a complete overhaul. Ownership will be changing the layout of the place and tweaking lots of service details along the way, with an eye towards reopening around the second week of July. that means opening up the entrance quite a bit, integrating the butcher shop into the larger restaurant, flipping the furniture, and even giving the walls a more rustic refresh under designer Jeffery Allan Marks. The restaurant has been in operation since April 2015.

Justice arrives

A judge this week sentenced a 36-year-old woman to one year in jail and five years of probation for a drunk driving crash that left one dead at a Boyle Heights taco stand. The tragic incident happened back in 2016.

Mezcal for the masses

Michael’s in Santa Monica is doing a mezcal tasting on Friday at the bar. The restaurant is partnering with Convite Mezcal for the $18 event.

Pizza party

The 2018 California Pizza Festival is coming at the end of July. The multi-day event goes down July 28 and 29 at LA Center Studios, and includes unlimited samples as well as tiered pricing for general admission, VIP, and beyond.

Coffee deals

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is hosting a killer new deal all June long, where their new cold brew coffee and cold brew tea will be available for just $2 every Thursday this month. The timing is specific (2 p.m. to 6 p.m. only) but still, not bad for cheap coffee.

Eagle rock walks

Eagle Rock Brewery is hosting another Sip & Savor event on June 20. The idea is to walk much of Colorado Boulevard, stopping in at restaurants for a bite and a collaboration brew. Expect five stops, with food and drink, for $50.

Rappahannock for dinner

Seafood sensation Rappahannock Oyster Bar is opening up for dinner as of this Friday. The ROW DTLA restaurant will offer the usual oysters, clams, and such, as well as a grilled skirt steak, Benton’s smoked ham, slow-cooked salmon, and more. The opening dinner menu is below.
