Sherry Grimes is a former Brooklyn chef who wants to bring her East Coast food vibe to Los Angeles, but without a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Grimes created a citywide food delivery or pickup kitchen called Pig & Butter and Bleeker Street LA. Both launch next Wednesday.
The comfort food-centric Pig & Butter builds breakfast sandwich, omeletes, and Chinese fried chicken and waffles, while the sandwich menu includes a Chinese Cubano with char siu pork and a Korean fried chicken sandwich. Side dishes and desserts include Spaniard Mexican chorizo fries and a crème anglaise stuffed French toast. As for Bleeker Street LA, the focus is street food. The tostadas are layered with Korean short ribs, pulled pork, and fried chicken.
Both Pig & Butter and Bleeker Street LA will operate out of the commercial-use Crafted Kitchens in the Arts District. Grimes partnered with Caviar, Postmates, Chownow, Doordash, or EZ Cater for delivery, but also makes it incredibly easy to grab-and-go. With curbside pickup, a member of Grimes kitchen crew will bring food straight to the car.
Grimes is a recent Brooklyn transplant to LA, but the food industry is her second career. Just before her food journey began, Grimes was a neuroscience researcher who studied complete spinal cord injury at Rutgers. Hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., but Grimes anticipates later hours in the coming weeks.
