Downtown’s Pitchoun! bakery heads across town with a second ground floor location at the Beverly Center. As the only bakery-cafe in the still-under-construction shopping mall, the bakery will make every item on site, and hopes to open by late summer.
Husband and wife owners Fabienne and Frédéric Soulies launched the original Pitchoun! (which translates to “kiddo” in French) in the Financial District in 2015. The pair comes from a family of bakers and wheat farmers in Southwest France. They take their baking seriously. The Soulies use nothing but French butter and even use their own natural starter, which they grow and feed in the Downtown bakery.
The Beverly Center location is on the ground floor facing Third Street near San Vicente, so locals can grab coffee, almond croissants, buttery Madeleines, baguettes, or order more savory menu items like the quiche Lorraine or baker’s pizza.
Construction for the entire Beverly Center should be complete before the holiday season, but food options won’t wait for that milestone. Lamill started serving coffee this month, and a new Marugame Udon is coming soon as well.
