San Francisco’s Humphry Slocombe ice cream company opens today in Venice. The popular Mission District shop starts scooping midday, with a grand opening party to come on Saturday.

Humphry Slocombe is one of the better-known ice cream brands to come out of the Bay Area, famous for its unusual concoctions and happy-go-lucky vibe. Diners can dive into everything from carrot mango sorbet to the once-boozy Secret Breakfast, a bourbon ice cream offered with actual corn flakes on top. The company also sells cakes and pies and their own ice cream cookbook from locations at the San Francisco Ferry Building and in Oakland; they even popped up earlier this year at Smorgasburg in Downtown LA.

Now they’re jumping to the south end of tony Abbot Kinney, right between The Tasting Kitchen and Lemonade. The compact 1,000 square foot shop offers some limited seating inside and out, but is mostly meant for diners to grab and go as they peruse the boulevard. The company has some stiff competition on that front though, considering Salt & Straw is just down the street, and Jeni’s isn’t far away.

As for the opening party on Saturday, look for free scoops from 11 a.m. to midnight, plus music and giveaways and more. Expect limited hours now until the opening reveal on Saturday.
