The Cake Monkey bakery team is growing fast, with the announcement today that the company’s second retail location will open tomorrow in upscale Westlake Village. This more robust space will go beyond the baked goods, offering coffee, breakfast, and casual daytime fare as well.

Cake Monkey’s newest outlet lands in one of the ritzier parts of Los Angeles County, right in the Conejo Valley along the border with neighboring Thousand Oaks in Ventura County. The shop itself sits at the edge of a big commercial development there, though the whole area has been booming of late with a rise in retail and even craft beer outlets citywide.

Inside, expect the usual menu of cakes, pastries, cakewiches, morning croissants, and evening cookies — all longtime staples of Cake Monkey that have made the company a near-household name around LA. Starting next week the plan is to expand into toasts and morning egg sandwiches as well, with an eventual push into broader dinnertime service and even beer and wine. For now it’s all about the sweet treats though, with first-day guests tomorrow able to snag buy-one-get-one-free cakewiches from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and free coffee all day with any purchase.
