Maybe more

Dave Beran is settling into the city nicely. The longtime Chicago chef of Alinea and Next has found a popular home in Santa Monica for his tasting menu restaurant Dialogue, and now tells Food GPS that he’s begun to firm up plans for a more casual French-leaning follow-up project. There’s no confirmed timeline or location announcement to make, but since making the move personally from Downtown to the Westside, Beran feels comfortable saying that it will be close to the ocean. What’s more, Dialogue could even be moving eventually, leaving its hidden location off the Third Street Promenade for some prime new digs elsewhere down the line.

Badmaash for days

Fairfax’s new Badmaash expansion is fully operational, having started up extended daytime service as of last week. Now that chicken tikka poutine will be available daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Gold party

A new taco-focused Pico Boulevard party is coming on Monday to honor the life of Jonathan Gold. The food bonanza is being put on by Brad Metzger Recruiting, and will include free Trejo’s Tacos, gift cards to various restaurants, and a donation element for Gold’s family.

Palm Springs drinks

There’s a new drink destination to know about out in greater Palm Springs. It’s called Libation Room, and it plays up the speakeasy/1920’s vibe, except with weekend DJs and VIP rooms. 73750 El Paseo, Palm Desert.

Yarrow love

LA Magazine is the latest to offer a lot of love to Yarrow Cafe, Royce Burke’s new restaurant on Fairfax near LACMA. The vegetable-focused restaurant offers mass appeal, the magazine says, especially with their carrot tartine and breakfast burrito.

Classy baked goods

Erin McKenna’s Bakery has taken over for the shuttered Blue Plate on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica. The vegan, gluten- and sugar-free bakery has existing locations on the Eastern seaboard, and over on Larchmont, reports Toddrickallen.

One big party

The Bacchanal team out of New Orleans is ready to party again. They’re teaming up for a second time with ERB in the Arts District to throw what should be one serious rager on Sunday, August 19. There will be meat, wine, carnival stuff, and a whole lot more.
