Universal Hollywood Has a New Stranger Things-Themed Food Menu

Plus acting coaches for the kitchen, and a new name in El Segundo

Halloween horror nights

There’s something brewing up at Universal Studios Hollywood. The theme park’s annual Halloween Horror Nights kick off on Friday, and to coincide with the spooky theme the company is rolling out a series of Stranger Things-inspired menu items. Shown above is the Upside Down burger, which actually comes bottom-bun-up and with a spicy cheese and crushed up Flamin’ Hot Cheetos on top. Or, bottom, as it were. Other items include spicy tater tot nachos, and lots of waffles (a favorite food item for Eleven). The new limited menu runs through Halloween.

The flair

LA Times has details on the ins and outs of service at Somni, the tasting menu restaurant inside The Bazaar. Cooks at the upscale restaurant are front and center all night long, so ownership actually hired an acting coach to help up the showmanship and get everyone feeling comfortable in a crowd.

New name

The (now former) Workshop Enoteca in El Segundo has a new name: Jame Enoteca. There was some confusion, apparently, with the Workshop team out of Palm Springs, so a decision was made to rebrand at the beginning of the month. Thankfully, the restaurant also just added beer and wine to its menu, so things are still coming along smoothly.

Double time

There’s a new two-for-one restaurant making waves in Sherman Oaks, reports Ventura Blvd. Magazine. The place is called Del Sole, and it operations on one side as a marketplace for takeaway goods and retail, and on the other as a more conventional sit-down trattoria. 14230 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks.

A new option

The Los Feliz Ledger has a review out on Mi Corazon, the unassuming Mexican spot hiding away in Silver Lake. With the loss of Malo not far away, the paper says, this may be the next best option.

OC party

There’s a new food festival coming to Orange County October 19 - 21. It’s called the OC Japan Fair, and it features a ton of great local Japanese restaurants as well as performances, shops, and more.

New dishes

Katsuya is rolling out an almost entirely new menu, starting with their Brentwood location yesterday. The new menu is below, and includes options like wagyu gyoza and, of course, plenty of fresh seafood.
