On the Mon Li

Matthew Biancaniello is almost ready to reveal Mon Li, his highly anticipated upcoming twelve-course destination in Malibu. The cocktail bar slash restaurant sits within listening distance to the shoreline and will offer some of the most inventive drinks available anywhere in Los Angeles (and, likely, all of America) for a set $150 price tag. Ticketed reservations go live on Tock today, with an opening slated for October 11.

Javi Ramos on the move

Former Sqirl chef Javier Ramos has a new gig as opening chef of the upcoming project The Draycott in the Caruso Pacific Palisades development. The restaurant is still tracking for a fall arrival.

Coffee in Chinatown

Another day, another coffee shop. This time it’s SPLA, opening up bright and early as part of the redone Kim Sing Theatre on Figueroa St.

LA Food again

LA Food Fest returns to Santa Anita on Saturday, showcasing some of the area’s best vendors. Among them is Dante Ferrero, a Mexican asado specialist who is cooking a whole cow, just like last year.

The Pudding Truck is about to shut down, some half-a-decade after starting up with its recognizable dual-brown truck. The simple sweets rig is throwing a final party at Boomtown Brewery in Downtown tomorrow to celebrate.

Sake series

Bone Kettle in Pasadena is hosting an exclusive six-course dinner with fine sake pairings on Wednesday. The $95 party is being put on in part by Master Sake guide Kerry Tamura.

Bowl nuts

Go nuts in Riverside this weekend with the the launch of the latest Bowlero. Kyle Kuzma of the Lakers will be there, and there’s plenty of free bowling and game play to be had.
