San Francisco’s popular Vive La Tarte opened on Monday in the heart of Silver Lake, on Sunset just across the street from Millie’s and El Cochinito. The bakery and cafe is known for unusual pastry combinations, and will introduce LA to its latest invention, a “tacro.”
Vive La Tarte’s concoction has a similar appearance to a Mexican torta. Vive La Tarte’s tacro folds a croissant into a taco shape and fills it with eggs, avocado, bacon, cheese, and salsa. The daytime menu features salads, avocado toast, sandwiches, baked goods, Sightglass Coffee, August Uncommon Tea, and a cast iron sourdough bread with butter.
First reported by The Eastsider, Vive La Tarte has three San Francisco locations. Owners Julie Vandermeersch and Arnaud Goethals started their entry into Los Angeles over a year ago, and converted a former retail shop into its bright new space.
Hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
Vive La Tarte. 3515 Sunset Blvd., Silver Lake, CA
