Bay Area export Sightglass Coffee is set to expand deeper into Los Angeles, after first announcing plans to open up on Sycamore in the Hollywood Media District earlier this year. The new location is a sprawling warehouse space further south in West Adams, set to open in 2020.

Sightglass is one of San Francisco’s more prominent coffee companies, known not only for roasting its own beans but its cafe spaces as well. The company already has four locations in greater San Francisco, and is now angling for its second in Southern California at 4450 West Adams Boulevard.

The space is just about a block west of Crenshaw, and well east of much of the new swath of West LA/South LA development that has been taking over the neighborhood, including Alta, an incoming location of Chinese noodle chain Mian, and casual spots like Highly Likely on Jefferson and the busy Mizlala. Even Jon & Vinny are getting into the game, with plans to open a standalone restaurant up in View Park.

Renowned chef Brett Cooper, who previously announced his departure from some popular Bay Area restaurants in order to move to Los Angeles, will continue to handle the food for this new location. In addition Sightglass has hired pastry chef Jillian Bartolome, a James Beard semi-finalist from Aqui in Houston, to oversee pastry for all Sightglass locations in Los Angeles. The Sycamore address in Hollywood is expected to open late this year.
