The biggest street food and pop-up trends of the past couple of years in Los Angeles have been hot chicken and smashed burgers. From the backyard likes of Burgers Never Say Die, countless imitators have come forth to try to recreate the magic and money with their own take on LA’s beloved burger, including a new spot opening this weekend in Hollywood called simply Smashed.
This time, though, there’s big money backing the project. Smashed opens at the former site of the Five0Four bar right on Hollywood Boulevard, not far from Hollywood and Highland. Ownership for Smashed is the same as the folks who own Te’Kila in Hollywood and Sherman Oaks.
The plan with Smashed is to offer a simple menu of burger basics alongside cocktails and fries. The menu will also skew towards a Beyond Meat vegan burger for those in need, and animal style-ish loaded fries as well as frozen cocktails for the tourist set. The opening menu is below.
Expect a big opening party for Smashed on Friday, October 11 starting at 6 p.m., complete with a DJ and free burgers. Hours run 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily. And yes, there is already hot chicken very very close by, as Hot Motha Clucker opened in the former Rusty Mullet bar space earlier this year. Eventually, all the trends come to the Walk of Fame.
Smashed. 6541 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles.
