Echo Park’s already-saturated coffee and wine market is about to get another entrant thanks to Revelator Coffee out of Atlanta. The popular East Coast shop is setting up at Mohawk Collective, the new-ish brick development right along Sunset Boulevard.

The Eastsider was first to report on Revelator Coffee’s new space, which will function both as a place for morning caffeine and evening wine. The place won’t actually carry the same coffee name, but instead will be known as Bar Avalon. “It’ll serve coffee but isn’t a coffee shop,” Joshua Owen from Revelator tells The Eastsider.

Instead, Revelator’s owners, along with former Top Chef contestant and culinary director Eli Kirshtein, will plan for an “approachable” all-day space for Echo Park. There’s no word yet on exactly what food or hours the new Bar Avalon will carry.

Regardless, the company certainly has its work cut out for it when it does open, likely in July. Bar Bandini is nearly next door, and Cosa Buona at the end of the block also has a killer collection of natural wines. The Semi-Tropic is a full-on coffee and wine bar that has been in operation for a couple of years down on Glendale Boulevard, and there are countless coffee options in the area from Woodcat to Andante, which is nearly across the street.
