Popular Italian pizza maestro (and YouTube tutorial king) Vito Iacopelli is back with more Neapolitan pies, adding to the wealth of pizza already happening on Melrose. His new place is called Provami Pizzeria, and it opens today.

If the name sounds vaguely familiar, that’s on purpose. Iacopelli previously ran Prova Pizzeria in West Hollywood, which opened to a fair amount of acclaim in 2014. That restaurant closed for good earlier this year following a rent hike, says Iacopelli, so now he’s transitioned down to Melrose in the former Neveux Artisan Creamery address, between Martel and Vista.

The new space has been completely kitted out with a wood-fired pizza oven made by Iacopelli and some friends, but it won’t focus exclusively on Neapolitan pizzas. The restaurant will also do pizza alla pala (shown below) as well as gelato, salads, coffee, and more.

Meanwhile Melrose is absolutely awash in pizza, from Ronan and Mozza to Spartina, the new LN2 Pizza Shoppe, and even deep dish from Blackbird. As for timing for Provami, expect the place to be open for dinner starting at 4 p.m. today.
