Surprise, surprise: Here comes another coffee shop to the Arts District. This time it’s a second location for Eightfold Coffee, heading straight to the soon-to-be-bustling At Mateo development.

Eightfold Coffee has been an anchor for the eastern edges of Echo Park’s Sunset Boulevard drag almost since day one. The clean, simple shop first cropped up near Guisados back in 2015, and now ownership says their second location could be just a couple of months away.

Owner Sooran Kim says the plan is to start up Eightfold Arts District in May or June, well ahead of the incoming opening of famed Chicago restaurant Girl & the Goat later this year. Eightfold will set up shop right next door to chef Stephanie Izard’s lauded restaurant, and with Spotify occupying some 110,000 square feet of office space upstairs, both projects should stay rather busy.

Of course, Eightfold Coffee will have its competitors, especially in the caffeine-rich Arts District. Both Blue Bottle and Zinc are within eyesight, and Go Get Em Tiger, Stumptown, House of Machines, the second location of Los Feliz’s Maru, RVCC Intersect, and others aren’t far away, either.
