Growing up
Guelaguetza co-owner Bricia Lopez is expanding to Las Vegas, and she’s bringing lots of mezcal with her. Lopez is landing at the recently-remodeled Park MGM with Mama Rabbit Bar, a Oaxacan-leaning spot for mezcal and tequila, plus live music and lounging. Look for an opening this summer.
Bootsy returns
Popular West Hollywood club Bootsy Bellows is almost ready for its comeback. The recently-remodeled address will reopen for real on April 26, sporting an all new H.Wood Group-designed look.
Big names
Trois Mec’s annual guest chef series, 2 Chefs: a Dialogue with Food, is back this spring with a whole new lineup. This year’s attendees include Adeline Grattard of Paris’s Yam t’cha on April 9, and Blaine Wetzel from the Willow Inn on Lummi Island on April 30.
The newness
There’s a new food menu at Here and Now in the Arts District. The cocktail-focused spot is doing everything from vegan steak tartare (made with Impossible Meat) to a spring couscous salad and a doughnut sundae for dessert.
The real burrito
The Off the Menu Club is back with a new promotion this week: Los Angeles burritos. The $20 a month app is partnering with names like Royce Burke of Yarrow, the Rooster Truck, and Burritos La Palma to give app members gratis burritos between now and Saturday.
All you can eat
Imperial Western Beer Company is doing its first-ever oyster eating competition on Sunday. $25 gets access to the 2 p.m. competition (21-and-over only), and there are prizes for the winners. Everyone else can just show up to watch the action and drink beer.
