Famed Los Angeles chef Wolfgang Puck certainly keeps busy, between his multiple restaurants, packaged food lines, long-in-the-works projects, and catering gigs. Now he’s getting even deeper into the hotel restaurant world, inking a big new deal with the upcoming Pendry West Hollywood for a slew of restaurants that will open in 2020.
The Pendry property has been a long time coming for the Sunset Strip, following the closure of the site’s previous tenant, the House of Blues, back in 2015. The sprawling multi-building compound will offer not only 149 upscale guest rooms, but there will also be 40 residential units on property as well as (yet another) private membership club. And then there are Puck’s various food operations, from an all-day restaurant with a big patio that pushes out onto the corner of Sunset and Olive to a rooftop restaurant, lobby bar, a small music venue, and in-room dining menu.

Reached by phone, Puck confirmed the news that he’ll be joining up with the Pendry brand, which is owned by the Montage International group. Puck says he hasn’t decided exactly what he’ll serve for the multiple outlets, since the timing is still tracking for sometime in mid-2020. But in true Puck fashion, expect lots of seasonality and simple California ingredients, though there will be some differentiation between the breakfast, lunch, and dinner restaurant downstairs and the rooftop dining option upstairs. Pendry co-founder Michael Fuerstman called it “an honor” to work with Puck on the upcoming projects.
The Pendry’s big culinary get is just the latest salvo in an escalating hotel and dining war along the busy Sunset Strip. From classics like the still-popular Sunset Tower to everything the H.Wood Group is doing over towards La Cienega (to say nothing of Tesse, or Gwyneth Paltrow’s exclusive Arts Club).
