Guisados takes it west

Beverly Hills must have done something to appease the taco gods, as Guisados is planning a new location slightly south of Wilshire at 120 South Linden Drive. The new spot will bump Guisados’s count to seven with the original Boyle Heights location, Echo Park, Downtown, West Hollywood, Burbank, and Koreatown. Owner Armando de la Torre and son Armando Jr. took over Cool Basil Thai Bistro after it closed in 2016. Despite being off the beaten track, the Thai joint made a good run, having opened around 2006. When open, Guisados will assist a section of town that could use a solid taco stop. The ever-roving Toddrickallen spotted signage about the pending opening.

Coffee mainstay Cofax spends the summer in Little Tokyo

Starting tomorrow, Cofax will bring its popular breakfast burrito to Little Tokyo’s Golden State with a weekend pop-up. It’ll last throughout summer weekends from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. with bacon, vegetarian, and chorizo breakfast burrito varieties, and coffee to boot. And if all goes well, Cofax owners James Starr, Nick Starr, and Jason Bernstein might make breakfast service more permanent.

It’s only one block away from Hatchet Hall and the Corner Door, towards the western section of Culver City.

One of Long Beach’s favorite breweries will expand just above the 405 and into a large space called The Uptown. Long Beach Beer Lab opened in Long Beach’s Wrigley neighborhood in 2017, and its next taproom will reside in a 19,000 square foot commercial space, according to the Long Beach Post.

Cypress Grove, the actual cheesemakers behind the famous curd Humboldt Fog is putting together a cheeseboards for dinner event this Sunday.
