Russ & Daughters, the beloved Lower East Side Jewish appetizing shop in New York City, will pop up for one day only at the Rose Venice on June 8, 2019. It’s the first time ever the famous bagel and cured fish shop will come to the West Coast in a special collaboration with Rose chef Jason Neroni and fourth generation Russ & Daughter owners Josh Russ Tupper and Niki Russ Federman.
Beginning at 8 a.m. and going until 2:30 p.m. (or until everything sells out, which it likely will), the Rose Venice will serve Russ & Daughters’ bagels, pastrami-cured salmon, soft egg scrambles with caviar, smoked fish platters, chocolate babka french toast, and black and white cookies. The ingredients, including par-baked bagels, will all come from New York City, meaning this will be a truly authentic taste of the East Coast classic in Los Angeles. For anyone looking to ball out, Russ & Daughters will serve 50 gram serving of Siberian Baerii caviar with blinis and creme fraiche. And the two restaurants will collaborate on a special smoked salmon pizza.
Service will be on a first-come, first-served basis, but there will be essentially two sections for diners. One will be a counter, similar to the Houston Street location of Russ & Daughters, and the other will be table service, much like the Orchard Street cafe. Show up early and be prepared to wait because the already-busy Rose will likely be a bit of a madhouse next Saturday. A copy of the menu (sans prices) is posted below.
