Santa Monica’s nightlife scene is getting a bit of a boost soon, thanks to the upcoming opening of a new live music venue and lounge called Canary.

Canary is expected to open this summer inside the former West End address just off Arizona near 5th Street. The owners, who hail from Belmont, Bruhaus and Neat, say they hope to turn the venue into a lush green and gold hideaway, with room for live music multiple times per night. As of now, the club will host live acts on Thursday and Friday from 10 p.m. to midnight, with DJs filling out much of the rest of the evenings. Sundays will feature jazz, similar to the new jazz and funk nights happening nearby at Ingo’s Tasty Diner in Santa Monica.

On the food and drink side, expect basic snacks alongside a variety of classic and tropical-inspired cocktails from barman Devon Espinosa. There is no firm opening date for Canary just yet, but expect hours from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., Wednesday through Sunday.

Canary. 1301 5th Street, Santa Monica, CA.
