Tustin’s new food hall hangout, Mess Hall Market, opened this week. It’s an impressive space with a notable lineup of Orange County chefs and restaurants. For now, there’s short daytime hours for the 12,000 square-foot space.
Anepalco chef Danny Godinez shifts gears by introducing Drink Bar with cocktails, wine, and beer, as well as a nod to modern Mexican food, Fonda Moderna. Slapfish’s owner/chef Andrew Gruel adds his SoCal seafood chain inside Mess Hall Market, along with a casual Italian called Big Parm. Vaka Burger, which closed its Boyle Heights location in 2017, also has a place at the new food hall, along with seven other vendors that includes Saigon Kitchen, a coffee and fresh juice stand called The Lost Bean, Greek street food, and a second location for the The Sandwich Society. Fowl Play’s fried/grilled/hot chicken isn’t open yet, but will in the coming months.
Mess Hall Market is part of FLIGHT at Tustin Legacy campus within the Tustin Legacy property. Mess Hall Market feels wide open with 40-foot glass walls that overlook walking trails and a park. There’s a total of 400 to 500 seats including an outdoor sitting area with a fireplace. The entire lot is 38-acres with creative office spaces, car accessible streets, a planned community, and retail right next to a Metrolink train stop. Mess Hall Market sits on a former air force base in Tustin.
Be mindful of the limited hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m daily. But on July 20, they’ll expand into an all-day operating schedule.
