More nostalgia

A pop-up version of the famed Peach Pit diner from Beverly Hills 90210 is coming to Melrose soon. The one-off party runs August 2 and 3 only, inside the former Johnny Rockets space on Melrose. Per Variety, there will be burgers, milkshakes and “nostalgic photo ops” galore, as Fox looks to restart the popular Beverly Hills 90210 once again, with the new series airing August 7. Reservations are already sold out, but walk-ins will be accepted.

Off to new things

Aaron Polsky is set to leave Harvard & Stone in the coming weeks. The busy bartender and former Eater Young Guns winner is choosing to focus on his canned cocktail line instead.

Goodbye, friend

The bakery inside McCall’s Meat & Fish in Los Feliz is going away. Pastry chef Karen Yoo made the sad goodbye announcement yesterday on Instagram, saying the place needed her “heavy personal involvement” still, and that after six years she was simply ready to move on. This is the final week of service.

Capturing the story

The LA Times has a fun video out on the origins of Coni’Seafood, the hit Inglewood spot for Nayarit-style Mexican seafood.

Giving back

Both City Tavern and Rush Street are doing charity events tonight to benefit the Tyler Skaggs Baseball Foundation. Skaggs, an Angels pitcher, died suddenly earlier this month. To honor him, both bars will be taking donations and pouring drinks during the Dodgers-Angels game.

Lights off

Here’s KTLA taking a look at one Silver Lake strip mall’s electricity woes. Per the report, the plaza near Glendale and Fletcher Boulevards — home to a Thai and Mexican restaurant — has been without electricity for two months, leading business owners to resort to running generators in the heat. The landlord says a fire knocked out the power, and she is unsure of when it will return, as she’s dealing with permitting from the city.

Get in the know

Hollywood Pies is giving away free slices of pizza starting today. The deep dish specialist wants to continue to put the word out about just how good they are, so they’ll be dishing out free single slices from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
