Atwater Village dinnertime option Good Measure will close this week, ending a nearly two-year run for the wine-focused restaurant.

Good Measure opened in the summer of 2017 as a place for Eastside drinkers to enjoy pours of international wine from Matthew Kaner, a longtime restaurant wine consultant and co-owner of such places as Bar Covell (which just turned nine), Augustine, and Dead or Alive Bar in Palm Springs. The plan was to use wine as a through-line for an expansive menu that weaved through various wine regions of the world, including Spain, Italy, France, and the United States.

But as even longtime restaurateurs know, Atwater village can be a tricky place to do business. The surrounding single-family homes are mostly price-conscious young families, making places like Hail Mary, Proof Bakery, and Dune big hits, while the corner location of Good Measure has been many different things over the years, including a short-lived ramen restaurant and healthy grocery store in in the recent past.

The final day of service for Good Measure is Sunday, July 14. The restaurant and bar will reopen for service on Wednesday, July 10, marking the final five days before the official weekend closure.

Good Measure. 3224 Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.
