South Bay residents can now have their fill of Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee without traveling to Santa Monica or crossing county lines starting on September 23. The bright and airy sweets shop is located in Torrance’s Rolling Hills Plaza. First opened in 2012, the Orange County-based chainlet has additional locations in Del Mar, Santa Monica, and Costa Mesa.
The Torrance menu will be in line with other locations, offering Sidecar’s signature cake doughnuts in flavors like huckleberry and salt and butter, as well as seasonal specialties and chef collaborations. Doughnuts are fried in small batches on the hour, which ensures the fritters are almost always warm throughout the day. In addition to plenty of deep-fried dough, Sidecar brews coffee and espresso from Common Room Roasters.

Designed by Fleetwood Fernandez Architects, the interior of the Torrance store is reminiscent of a doughnut factory, with views of the doughnut-making process from beginning to end. There’s also a vintage sidecar affixed to the shop’s exterior wall. The design is a nod to Torrance’s thriving history as a hotbed for the auto industry.
The shop will be open Sunday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
