One of greater New York City’s most famous pizza operations, Lucali, is stopping in Los Angeles for a two-day pop-up on La Cienega. The famed Carroll Gardens restaurant from star chef Mark Iacono is coming to the Nice Guy space, just north of Beverly, on March 9 and March 10.

The surprise pop-up comes about because of well-connected the Nice Guy co-owner John Terzian (along with Brian Toll) and his relationship with Iacono. Both get tons of media attention and play to celebrity crowds — in Terzian’s case it’s usually Drake and Nas; for Iacono, it’s Beyonce and Jay-Z — and have long lines of fans clamoring to get inside, so why not merge the two for a West Coast evening of pizza and drinks? And if the lines for last month’s Prince St. Pizza pop-up in West Hollywood (they’re the square slice kings out of Manhattan) were any indication, Lucali should demand an audience.

The two-day affair should pack the clubby La Cienega restaurant with fans eager to try Lucali’s thin-crust style. There will be three options on offer: a margarita; a pepperoni; a hot pepper and shallot, plus calzones and meatballs. No reservations will be taken, so eager eaters will have to queue up on the sidewalk next to the 1975 Chevrolet Caprice convertible (really). The event runs two days only, March 9 and March 10, from 5 p.m. to midnight both days, at 401 N. La Cienega Boulevard.
