Novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, has taken a major hold on LA’s restaurant scene, starting with debunked rumors in Koreatown and most recently to closures of notable restaurants in San Gabriel Valley. Some establishments, such as Sichuan Impression, are requiring a body temperature check before diners can enter the dining room.
And perhaps most significant regionally is the postponement of Coachella, one of the year’s biggest music festivals that contains a sizable food component. Multiple chefs and restaurants serve tens of thousands of festival-goers at Coachella every year, and the event has now been moved to October 2020 due to coronavirus concerns. Eater will continue to track the effects of coronavirus in Los Angeles’s restaurant scene.
