The corner of Griffith Park Boulevard and Edgecliff in Silver Lake is about to get busier. Breadblok, Santa Monica’s gluten-free bakery and cafe, will take up residence steps away from Pine & Crane and Coffee Memes this December, while opening two additional locations in Venice and Beverly Hills in the coming months.
Breadblok opened in February 2020, and managed to navigate success amid the pandemic. Sister-owners Chloé and Celine Charlier launched the Westside business thanks to their French family’s three generation embrace of gluten-free baking. Breadblok’s mostly organic breads and pastries are free of gums, soy, and refined sugar with items like breads, croissants, tarts, donuts, scones, quiche, and sandwiches.
When open, Breadblok Silver Lake will keep hours from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. in the former Enrique Auto Parts space at 1529 Griffith Park Boulevard.
Greyhound anniversary
This Friday, the Greyhound Glendale celebrates its two-year anniversary. Get there from 4 p.m. until close to snag some complimentary wings — the house specialty — both vegan and chicken.
Filipino History Month at Genever
To celebrate Filipino History Month, Genever will park a vintage Jeepney — a ubiquitous public transit presence in the Philippines — this Saturday from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. along with a happy hour that’s also a fundraiser. All the details are on Genever’s Instagram page.
The Pie Hole’s new baking accelerator program
SoCal-based the Pie Hole launched an accelerator program designed to help underserved and marginalized bakery entrepreneurs today to kick off its 10-year anniversary. The program will provide entrepreneurs assistance with infrastructure and resources to develop their own brands and products, along with in-house retail, marketing, and publicity support from The Pie Hole.
Izakaya nights at Yojimbo
Fairfax’s Yojimbo announced later hours with a new night menu starting this Saturday. In addition to Japanese beers, sake, and a drinking snacks menu from 5 p.m. until close, it’ll feature a DJ and record sale from We Share Records shop.
