As the larger Hollywood Park development continues its construction next door to the NFL’s expensive new SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, more key players are being announced. Next up is two prominent and longstanding Los Angeles businesses: the Inglewood-based Three Weavers Brewing Company and the legendary Sky’s Gourmet Tacos, both of which have secured spaces at the Park with plans to open in spring 2022.
Sky’s Gourmet Tacos owner Barbara “Sky” Burrell opened her first Mid-City restaurant on Pico near Hauser some 30 years ago and has grown in the decades since to include a food truck and second location with its own market in Marina Del Rey. Burrell runs one of LA’s longest-standing Black-owned businesses, where she prepares her uniquely soulful spin on Mexican food with burritos, hard-shelled tacos, cheesecake, hibiscus lemonade, and even Texas-style ribs.
This time, she’ll operate out of 3,800-square-foot space, complete with a 400-square-foot patio, piano bar, and an updated menu that calls itself “elevated Mexican-Cajun.”
Meanwhile, in 2013, Lynne Weaver launched a crowdfunding campaign to help finance the beginning of Three Weavers Brewing Company. A former homebrewer, Weaver opened up the brewery slightly west of the 405 and Manchester with no televisions — but had ample board games and multiple taps serving craft beers that have, in years since, cultivated a loyal following. For her Hollywood Park outlet, Weaver is working with architect Mia Lehrer from Studio MLA to build an outdoor beer garden for the weekend crowds.
Though SoFi Stadium itself is complete, Hollywood Park remains under construction. The entire complex covers nearly 300 acres and spans multiple sports, entertainment, and retail areas as well as office space, hotel, residential units, and an outdoor park.
