Let's hit you with a little extra Dish before the day is done, shall we? See something open in your neck of the woods? Let us know.
SANTA MONICA: The LA dining and nightlife scene is one big puzzle, and sometimes we just have to connect the pieces. Perfect example: The Parlor, which opened in the former Cinch space on Monday. Today we get an email that two reality TV stars are involved in a new restaurant on Wilshire---Silas Gaither from Survivor Africa and Trishelle Cannatella from Real World Las Vegas, two shows we don't watch. LAist interviewed Trishelle recently, who said she "has a new bar in Santa Monica," and our tipster saw her talking about it on MTV and recognized Cinch. We knew The Parlor applied for its liquor license in that spot in April. Voila! We have a new opening.
Tracked down co-owner and manager Ike Pyun today, who kept things as vague as possible. "Yes it's open, American-style food," and then he brushed us off for some paperwork. Or maybe the Daily Candy mafia demanded another one of their "exclusives" on the opening announcement. Oh?oops. Fun Fact: Trishelle and Silas were in a movie called "The Hillz" with...wait for it...the most famous ex-con of all time, Paris Hilton. It's all so freakin' full circle, isn't it? WEST HOLLYWOOD: As previously reported, Salades de Provence finally opened in the former Empanada's Place on La Cienega and Halloway this weekend. From our WeHo spy: "The menu is comprised of salads, quiches and 'other little pleasures from Provence' in addition to coffee, Mariage Freres teas, and desserts. It's on the pricier side, skewing more towards Sunset Plaza than Boystown. It's very French. Not sure about the parking situation and there's no outdoor seating. With the addition of Pali House, that often-passed but rarely-visited strip of Holloway should get an upgrade from the Barnery/IHOP/7-11 crowd." [1040 N.
