Former Napa Ubuntu chef Jeremy Fox was rumored to be considering an LA restaurant about a year and a half ago, and just last week came word that he has signed on in a consulting chef role at Jeff Weinstein's (The Counter) forthcoming American experiment on Pico, Freddy Smalls Bar and Kitchen. One month ago Grub Street SF said that Fox was thinking about bringing a veggie-based concept called Smith to LA, and recently we've spotted the chef out and about in this here city. It has now come to our attention that Fox IS actively scouting east side LA restaurant spaces to open farm-to-table vegetable restaurant similar to Ubuntu. Sounds just like Smith. This also sounds like the restaurant that chef Travis Lett wanted to open above Gjelina, though he was never able to secure the proper permitting.
