Dining out is a challenge during COVID-19. While many don’t give a second thought to sitting on a patio for a meal in the middle of a pandemic, others cannot take the risk. Social distancing is key for the vulnerable and those who come into contact with them, whether a family member, friend, or roommate.

With restaurants fully invested into delivery or takeout, some businesses are making sure that contactless pickup is precisely that. Upon arrival, interactions between restaurant staff and customers is very limited. These precautions are not just for diners, restaurant staff comes into regular contact with countless individuals everyday, and wants to minimize coronavirus exposure as well.

The options vary from high end pasta in Downtown, to SoCal’s legendary Cuban bakery, or Tex Mex-inspired margaritas in Playa Vista. Here now are 12 restaurants doing contactless pickup in Los Angeles.

A number of LA restaurants have resumed dine-in service. The level of service offered is indicated on each map point. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining in, as there are still safety concerns: for updated information on coronavirus cases in your area, please visit the Los Angeles Public Health website. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
